I’ve had a bit of art block lately - a few weeks back one of my older reels went a little viral, and in truth, I think the unsolicited messages from trolls telling me I’m a bad artist who doesn’t do or create anything real got in my head a bit. I struggle a lot with those voices in my own head already and having other people articulate those thoughts to me was...rough. To get through my art block, I’ve been trying different things as I work through commissions - with this one, I started with a black and white photo and worked out the contrast in the space as I added colors - it was a lot of fun to look at it this way, and it helped me feel the emotion of the picture I wanted to focus on. The end result is one of my favorite photos - a relaxing, centering reminder to breathe.
